1. Are there policies I have to follow regarding searches?
Yes, there are A&M System policies and A&M-San Antonio Rules and Procedures. They can be found at: http://www.tamusa.edu/compliance/rulesandprocedures.html

2. Do interview/search committees have to go through training prior to starting the review process?

5. Do interview questions have to be job related?

7. How many employees are required to pick up candidates from the airport or hotel?

Yes, interviews can be conducted via Skype.

11. Can committee members score candidates if they miss interviews?
Yes, if they review all interviews (in-person, Skype, or recorded). Otherwise, their scores are not counted, but they may still participate in discussions.
12. Do all candidates have to be asked the same questions?

15. Do we have to interview a veteran?
Yes. Under Texas State Bill 805:
- If interviewing fewer than 6 candidates → interview at least 1 veteran
- If interviewing 6 or more → at least 20% must qualify for veteran preference
16. Do we have to interview veterans who don’t meet minimum qualifications?
17. For faculty searches, do we have to complete both checklists?
- Faculty: References should be checked before final hiring recommendation
- Staff: At least 2 references required, typically checked after interviews
Managers/supervisors are preferred, but coworkers may be used if necessary.
19. Do we have to provide benefits information to candidates?

- Faculty: Submit to Provost Office (includes interviews, references, checklist, matrix, and applicant materials)
- Staff: Submit to Human Resources (includes interviews, references, matrix, and applicant materials)
